Can I designate my donation to a specific person or program?
YES! You can choose to designate your donation to a specific person, or have it applied to one of our service categories: music lessons, music therapy, or music classes/camps. If you prefer your donation goes where it is most needed, select "general fund" and we will apply it to the category where the largest need exists.
How are people chosen for scholarships?
Anyone in our service area can apply for a scholarship to help cover the cost of music lessons, music therapy, or music enrichment classes or camps. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on financial need and need for the service. Recipients will need to maintain a good attendance record in order for them to be considered for future scholarships.
Why is The Joy of Music accepting donations?
From its beginning, Elisabeth (founder, owner, and music therapist) has led The Joy of Music with a community-centered approach. Since opening in 2005, The Joy of Music team has seen an increase of deserving young people and families unable to receive the impactful services that they need to achieve wellness. Your donation will allow children, teens, and young adults to access music lessons, music enrichment classes or camps, or music therapy at a reduced cost.
We know we cannot solve the world’s problems with this scholarship program, but we are not called to save the world. We are asked to do the best we can with what we have.
